Many art critics have complained that the designs of the most dramatic art galleries of the last decade have upstaged or interfered with the art itself. LUMAS, an internationally renowned art gallery that specializes in photography, commissioned Michiels & Partners (MAP) to create their new art gallery in Washington, DC. MAP created a space that would not only exhibit their LUMAS’ art collection but would also entice their visitors to walk through the maze of photographs and, instantaneously, plunge into the visual reality that every piece offers.

LUMAS has 14 other art galleries in Germany, New York, Boston, Miami, Zurich and Paris.
